Mon Pilotage Elec
Mon Pilotage Elec is a service developed by Engie based on a smart thermostat that enables French customers to control their electric radiators room by room, hour by hour, and to participate in the energy transition through an integrated demand response* service. The offer reconciles customer savings and comfort while optimizing energy efficiency.
The thermostat can be easily installed on almost all types of electric radiators, even old ones, and is independent of the energy supplier contract. It is completely free of charge for the customer, i.e. material, installation and service are included.
Each customer can personalise their heating temperature via the Engie app, for instance program the temperature of each room at different time slots or remotely adjust the temperature in case of circumstances. This helps the customer to heat at the right temperature at the right time, helping to save energy and heating costs. Customers also have access to their current and past heating consumption which can be viewed on a daily or monthly basis.
A study conducted among Engie customers comparing their heating consumption between November and December 2021 and the same period in 2022 showed an average heating energy saving** of 18% when using Mon Pilotage Elec.
On top of that, with the approval of customers, the smart thermostat can temporarily alter its setting by shifting the heating based on grid needs. With a maximum of 1°C delta from the target temperature and for a limited period of time, customer comfort is preserved while the joint modulation of several households can relieve the electricity grid of stress and thus support the energy transition.
Also, by aggregating all customers in one pool, Engie can provide the TSO with flexibility services in different reserves (FCR, aFRR, mFRR). Moreover, by participating in the TSO’s tenders such as the demand response tender (AOE), or the French capacity mechanism, Mon Pilotage Elec guarantees the availability of its flexibility to the TSO in the mid- to long-term.
Overall, Mon Pilotage Elec is an innovative, simple and transparent electrical solution that helps customers to have more control over their energy consumption while improving their comfort at home. Mon Pilotage Elec is a new service that is part of the implementation of Eurelectric’s 15 Pledges project which aimed to create energy savings and a better energy experience for consumers.

*Demand response is an energy flexibility solution that stabilizes the electricity network in case of imbalance between production and consumption of energy. It also optimizes the integration of renewable energies. ENGIE needs to bring together a certain number of “Mon pilotage Elec” customers who accept, ultimately, to modulate their energy consumption to facilitate the implementation of this solution. **Average reduction observed on the electricity consumption of a panel of 519 Mon Pilotage Elec users, for whom ENGIE has a consumption record, between the period November -December 2021 before the installation of the equipment and November -December 2022 after its installation. Over the same period, a panel of 20,000 ENGIE customers not equipped with Mon Pilotage Elec reduced their electricity consumption by an average of 15.2%.
